A House, Milan

Sophisticated everyday life

Lightness, functionality and colours: these are the defining elements of this Milanese house in a early 1900s building, in classic Milanese style, situated in the heart of the Città Studi area.

The 1920s three-room apartment was renovated into a duplex flat, where antique and contemporary elements meet, emphasising each time period’s expression. The valorisation of the antique is achieved by maintaining the original cast iron radiators, doors and windows; the modern touch is instead carried out with the elimination of the separation wall between the living room and the kitchen area. In its place, a specially made two-faced shelving element. On one side, it faces the kitchen area and provides several closed compartments and a worktop; the opposite side, facing the living area, offers open shelves, perfect for placing books, vases and objects. The perfect element for an open space apartment where a single area can answer to multiple uses and daily needs.

Beyond the structural changes, an important restyling was carried out and involved furniture, finishes, complements and textiles. A curated selection that includes family furniture and design pieces, upholstery, lamps and objects acquired from modern antique dealers. The result is a sophisticated and bright house, that offers elegance, harmony and relax.
