Abitare – Gresmalt Group, Cersaie 2026

In Japan, the market is a form of everyday city: a space for passing through and pausing, shaped by gestures and rituals. An ordered yet permeable system, where commerce coexists with domestic and social life.

It is from this idea of ichiba, the market, that the installation takes shape: its translation into a contemporary and essential architecture. A covered promenade runs through the space, connecting a sequence of small shops: lightweight structures, openings, and windows compose a rigorous landscape, crossed by continuous thresholds and shifting perspectives.

Each shop houses a collection by Abitare la Ceramica and creates its own narrative. The Fruit Market, Fish Market, Spice Shop, Granary, Dairy, and Vegetable Garden are translated into intimate environments where ceramic takes the place of merchandise, and textures, colours, and surfaces become subjects to be observed.

The interior design also emerges from this narrative. For each environment, an original image was created by photographer Andrea Garzotto: six subjects conceived to enhance the ceramic world through an interpretation of the world of Ichiba.

As in a real market, the project reveals itself progressively, and the act of displaying becomes an exercise in proximity, rhythm, and measure.
